What does leadership mean to you?
I work best as part of a team and I feel most fulfilled when I can help students and colleagues become increasingly confident, productive, and successful. For those reasons, leadership for me is always reciprocal—I strive to foster a climate of engaged learning, collaboration, challenge, and support.
Why is networking/mentoring important?
Mentoring, when done well, can often help us see our own potential in contexts and roles that we might not have envisioned for ourselves. For women in higher education, I think access to effective mentors can help guide us into creative, imagined futures and also help us avoid common pitfalls.
Why are you a member of PAACE?
PAACE provides a network of diverse institutional perspectives, across disciplinary divides. I value the mentoring and leadership training, and it allows me to connect with colleagues in many fields at many different types of institutions.
