What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership is about creating a common sense of purpose and an environment within which we can all thrive and deliver that common purpose while providing the resilience to face the difficult challenges. Leadership is also about service – giving your best and living out your values every day in all you do. It is about being authentic, open, humble and willing to learn as well as having the courage to stand and be counted for doing the right thing in the best interests of the people we serve.
Why is networking/mentoring important?
Networking and mentors are invaluable resources for a successful career and personal life. Together they guide us through growth, change and crisis and help us become who we are meant to be. Networks provide opportunities to identify those who can serve as mentors in both personal and career functions. Mentors help develop the next generation of leaders.
Why are you a member of PAACE?
I am a member of PAACE because I believe in its mission to facilitate the networking of women interested in pursuing leadership opportunities in higher education. I was the beneficiary of mentoring by a number of amazing women in higher education as I pursued my leadership goals through the years. As a member of PAACE I will have the opportunity to give back and mentor women with similar goals and aspirations.
